About me

Hello dear reader,

My name is Kristel. A girl born and raised in The Netherlands where the weather is never reliable and we live below sea level. You might have heard of Amsterdam, tulips, Vincent Van Gogh and Coffee Shops. Yes, all of them are from my little country.

I have been blogging since April 2011. Inspired by some Singaporean bloggers I made my first post about Miyavi’s concert. He is a Japanese artist who gave a concert in The Netherlands. If you are curious about it, you can check it out HERE. Bare in mind that my English was on the horrible side back then, haha.

I started to realized how enjoyable writing could be. Writing thoughts and experiences and sharing them with whoever wants to read. It became a habit, a part of my life. Throughout those years I got to know myself better. Not only did my writing skills improve, but I’m finally at a point where I am figuring out what I want to write about. Yes it took me three years..

Who am I?

My life has become more meaningful ever since I began to question my habits and knowledge. It brought me to a place where I am happier and worry less. I am a passionate vegan with a minimalist lifestyle that loves experiencing and learning. A girl who wants to live life to the fullest, travel the world and meet new people. I love Japan, photography, cosplay, writing, reading, drawing, moving my body and food.

“The unexamined life is not worth living” – Socrates

I want to make the best out of my life. I want to thrive, accomplish my own goals, discover how to love unconditionally and be kind to others. I want to stop living in the comfort zone and grow each day. Improve myself. Starting by living my life in the now. Starting by examining my life. It will come with ups and downs. But sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. I will find comfort in discomfort and keep on going.

So this is me in a nutshell and what my blog will be about. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

What are your goals in life, if you have any? I’ve watched some of your videos and just curious in what you do for a living in the Netherlands and how you make time for the videos. It’s hard not to pay attention with that cute accent and beautiful looks.

Hi Liam, I have a bucketlist on my blog so you can see a couple of my life goals. But I would love to travel the world and share my thoughts in order to help others help themselves improve their level of health and happiness ^_^. I study, I do a part time job to earn money. It is a lot of hard work keeping up with these things, but I love what I do. Thank you so much <3

So glad I found your YouTube channel. You are wise beyond your years, and I take inspiration from your Vlog. It is so nice to come across young people who are living a thoughtful life. It is so easy for my generation to point to the evils of social media, because we didn’t grow up with it, and many like to dismiss it as a tool for distraction only, or a place to spread hate. There is plenty of negativity and darkness on social media, for sure, but it isn’t hard to find the light of positivety. Thanks for your positive and helpful message. Peace!

Where does Kasumi come from in your name?

    • Reply Kasumikriss juni 26, 2017 at 12:34 pm

Kasumi means Misty in Japanese. I used it as a name when I was playing online games when I was younger haha.

      • Reply Xen september 7, 2017 at 10:55 am

Kasumi actually just means mist. “Kasumi na” would be said to imply “Misty”, probably. So “Kasumi na Kriss” or “Kasumi no Kriss” would be said to say “Misty Kriss” or “Kriss of the Mist”. In the same way “Ooki na Kriss” would be “Big Kriss” or “Chiisai na Kriss” would be “small kriss” which I think would be more appropriate.

I guess the word “na” is mostly bound to those predefined words, but I’m sure they don’t care much about it :p.

There are of course other style adjectives ending in “i” such as “Omoshiroi hon desu ka?” as in “Is it an interesting book?” These words then have an adverb form ending in -ku so as to become “omoshiroku kakareta” for “interessant getekend” of “interestingly drawn”.

But “mist” being a noun for it to become “misty” it would ordinarily be followed by “na”.

Of course in a name you would do as you do ;-). Well, in our languages you would. In Japanese you wouldn’t. But anyway, I’m not trying to be pedantic here, just informative. In itself “kasumi” is a noun (zelfstandig naamwoord) and not an adjective (bijvoeglijk naamwoord) and it becomes an adjective or can be used as one by postfixing “na”. Of course, in your name it is perfectly fine.
