One of the highlights in my week is going grocery shopping. It may sound like a very dull thing, but I enjoy it so much. I love investing in my health and that is the reason I spend majority of my money on good foods. In this post I want to show you what I buy as a high carb low fat vegan. It varies on a weekly basis, but I try to get as much whole foods as I can.
What I bought
Organic: bananas, mangoes, beet juice, carrot juice, oatmeal milk
Non-organic: bananas, mandarins, dates
It wasn’t much this time, because I was mainly stacking up on some fruits. Can you guess my favorite? Probably a no-brainer. I love my bananas, I rarely go a day without them. In this post I show how I usually eat them. Most of them are organic and bought at Ekoplaza. The four bunches on the right are the ones (Chiquita Bananas) of which I don’t know if they are organic or not, bought at Albert Heijn. Besides that I got around 10 mangoes. Bought them at Ekoplaza, what I probably will not be doing again. They were too expensive! I will be looking around for some good deals before getting them now that summer is coming.
Recently I have been buying vegetable juice on a weekly basis. I read somewhere that carrot and beet juice can help with acne prone skin. I remember how I used to hate the taste of carrot juice, but now it is like the sweetest tasting soda to me! I can’t start my day without having a mix of my carrot and beet juice. Hopefully one day I will have a juicer to make it myself. Next to the bottles of carrot and beet juice there is a package of unsweetened oatmeal milk. I actually wanted to get rice milk, but this one was on sale and I never have tried it before. I thought it was pretty funny using oatmeal milk to make oatmeal. Oatmealception~
I bought some dates and mandarin from new local supermarket. These are not organic unfortunately. The dates are pretty decent, but I prefer the juicier organic ones I have had before. Juicy sticky big dates are the best!
This was my short and small grocery haul for today. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask in the comment section below. Thanks for reading!
